Organization of a series of webinars on energy efficiency, for energy access

The Rexel Foundation supports the initiatives of the United Nations Foundation’s Energy Access Practitioner Network

Project description

The Rexel Foundation supports the Sustainable Energy for All (SE4ALL) initiative launched by the United Nations Foundation. For this reason, it has joined the Energy Access Practitioner Network, a worldwide platform that brings together energy suppliers and stakeholders from 170 countries with the goal of helping SE4ALL to reach its objective of universal energy access by 2030.

Execution

As part of this partnership, and under the aegis of the Clean Energy Solutions Center, the Rexel Foundation is co-organizing a series of three interactive webinars on energy efficiency for energy access.

The first webinar in the series, organized on February 17, 2016, was devoted to appliance efficiency in resource-constrained settings. Participating in the broader context of the Clean Energy Ministerial’s Global Lighting and Energy Access Partnership (Global LEAP) and the new Efficiency for Access Coalition (E4A), webinar participants shared their organizations’ experience in the energy efficiency field.

The next webinar is scheduled for May 18, 2016. It will cover the use of energy efficient solutions to fight fuel poverty.

Objectives

  • Share the skills and knowledge developed by Rexel and the Rexel Foundation in the energy efficiency field
  • Contribute to leading a community based of interaction and debates on the topic of energy efficiency
  • Foster the emergence of solutions improving energy access for all

About SE4All

SE4All (Sustainable Energy for All) is an initiative launched by the Secretary-General of the United Nations in September 2011. Its aim is to ensure universal access to modern energy services by 2030, to double the global rate of improvement in energy efficiency, and to double the share of renewable energy in the global energy mix, bringing it to 30%.

One of SE4All’s tools is the Energy Access Practitioner Network, which brings the private sector together with civil society to deliver energy services and solutions to provide electricity to developing countries, integrating innovative market-based economic and financial models that enhance income generation, health, agriculture, education, small business and telecommunications.
